Giving & Worship
Giving & stewardship are two themes that runs throughout scripture. Giving is an act of our worship to God, as we give to him in thanksgiving, trust & faith. Stewardship is wisely choosing how we spend and use our money in our lives. And both are equally important to God.
We believe in giving as an act of worship. Paul writes of giving as an act of grace and he urges them to excel in the grace of giving (2 Corinthians 8:6-9). Then in 2 Corinthians 9:6-10 Paul writes a number of principles in our giving. That it is generous, thoughtful, willing, cheerful & an act of trust in God to continue to provide. And this is how we approach giving.
In giving in there is the biblical language of tithe. This simply means 10%, which is a measure we see from Abraham through to the New Testament. We believe a tithe is a base-line of generosity that the New Testament envisages.
Giving as an act of worship, supports the church of God. Just as the temple & the Priest in the Old Testament received financial and material support. So, the church in the New Testament needs the same. Because every home costs to run. While some people still like to give physically through the offering bags. There are a number of ways to give listed below.
