How CAP’s service works

1. Home Visit
After you call CAP, a Debt Coach and Support Worker from the local CAP Debt Centre will arrange to visit you in your own home.

2. An Effective Budget
Our trained debt counsellors will work out a realistic budget that prioritises your essential bills. Your local Debt Coach will then visit you again to explain the budget, any options or choices you may have in terms of working your way out of debt, and what payments you need to make. Our CAP HQ team will then negotiate affordable payments with each creditor and stop unfair interest and charges where possible.

3. CAP Account
If you choose to work with us, a CAP Account is set up for you. This can be used to pay your regular bills and debts. You will need to make one weekly or monthly payment into your account to cover all of your bills and debts. CAP will then distribute this to your creditors on your behalf. You can also make savings in your CAP Account.

4. Severe Debt
If you are in severe debt then we can walk you through insolvency options, such as petitioning for bankruptcy. We can help you to fill out the forms and even attend court with you.

5. Debt Free
You will use your CAP Account to pay your bills and debt repayments and you will be supported by CAP until you are debt free.

CAP Money Course

What is the CAP Money Course?

The CAP Money Course is a revolutionary money management course that teaches people budgeting skills and a simple, cash-based system that really works. This course will help anyone to get more in control of their finances, so they can save, give and prevent debt.

The CAP Money Course is a course devised by the award winning debt counselling charity, Christians Against Poverty. Currently there are 852 active churches serving around 10,192 course delegates a year.
A DVD based course that will teach you...

1. How to build a budget
This is the cornerstone of managing your money well. The session includes advice on how to increase your income and how to cut costs.

2. The CAP Money System
This system will help to simplify your money and make it understandable. It operates using three accounts for your money: a regular payments account, a cash account and a savings account.

3. Use cash instead of cards
Living on cash and getting away from cards means you know exactly where you are and helps you to spend less money.

Doing the CAP Money Course means you will be able to budget, save and spend on the things you want. After watching the DVDs, trained CAP Money Coaches will be available to help you build your budget and answer any questions you may have.

A unique benefit of the CAP Money Course is that, if you discover that you can’t balance your budget and pay off any debts, you will be able to access CAP Money Plus. This is an Internet based debt counselling service from Christians Against Poverty.

What people are saying about CAP Money Course

"Our finances were in such a mess that we didn't know which way to turn. We attended the CAP Money Course, which changed our complete outlook on our life and finances and, best of all, showed us that there was hope out there. Now we are turning our life around thanks to CAP."
 — Rod & Bea

"I tried to commit suicide having lost track of my money, but we were kept going by the prayers and love of friends. We went on the CAP Money Course and, for me especially, it changed my life."
 — Mandy Dixon

"The welcome that I received at the first meeting of the CAP Money Course was so very friendly and put me at my ease straight away. Since attending the course, my credit card has become redundant. I have used the three account philosophy to great effect. I will be starting the new decade with no money owing on my credits cards and I could not be in a better position. I owe it all to the simple but very effective CAP Money Course"
 — Andrea Singleton
